See the Trailer for Loretta Lynn's 'American Masters' Documentary

Lynn's episode of PBS series will air same day her new album 'Full Circle' is released

Loretta Lynn's episode of the PBS series 'American Masters' will air on March 4th, the same day her new album 'Full Circle' is released.

"Oh, heavens, I never thought of anything like this when I was a kid," Loretta Lynn says in the just-released trailer for the upcoming PBS American Masters documentary which chronicles her hardscrabble life and storybook music career. "Growin' up in Butcher Holler, that's where you'll stay, you thought," she says of her backwoods Kentucky upbringing.

Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl premieres March 4th on PBS as part of the 30th anniversary of the long-running documentary series which launched January 29th with a new film devoted to the late film and stage icon Mike Nichols, one of the most celebrated writer-directors of the past six decades.

Appropriately, the episode featuring Lynn will premiere during Women's History Month and affords viewers unprecedented access to Lynn's extensive personal archives, with never-before-seen home movies, performances and photos, along with interviews with family, close friends and fellow musicians such as Jack White, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert and Bill Anderson.

"The rags-to-riches story I've heard is so true," says White, who produced Lynn's Grammy-winning LP Van Lear Rose. "You couldn't get any more real than Butcher Holler," he adds with a laugh.

On the same day Lynn's documentary has its world premiere broadcast, the legendary "Coal Miner's Daughter" will release Full Circle, her first new studio album in more than a decade. Footage of Lynn at the Cash Cabin Studio with producer John Carter Cash is included in the film, as are other locations, including the singer-songwriter's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, an hour outside Nashville. The Oscar-winning star of the 1980 biopic Coal Miner's Daughter Sissy Spacek and the film's director Michael Apted, are also interviewed.

"Being part of the American Masters series makes you feel like, 'Hey, I really have accomplished something great,'" Lynn previously said of the honor.

Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl premieres Friday, March 4th, on American Masters, which airs at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.

Full Circle features 13 tracks and includes a duet with Elvis Costello ("Everything It Takes") and one with Willie Nelson on "Lay Me Down."
