See John Mayer, Ryan Adams Perform 'Come Pick Me Up' in Los Angeles

Singer-songwriters tackle 'Heartbreaker' favorite at Forum

John Mayer brought out Ryan Adams during his concert Friday night in Inglewood, California, with the singer-songwriters performing Adams' "Come Pick Me Up" together at the Forum.

Adams, wearing a Black Flag Slip It In shirt, handled lead vocals on the Heartbreaker track, with Mayer providing background on the rousing chorus and expansive guitar solos straight out of his work with Dead & Company. (Mayer will rejoin the Grateful Dead offshoot this summer for a 19-date tour.)

"What a blast! Such a beautiful @JohnMayer show & one hell of a way to see @theforum for the first time! XO," Adams tweeted of the performance, later promising to make Mayer a Voivod mixtape.

Mayer has been on the road to support his new album The Search for Everything, which arrived in full on April 14th after initially trickling out in "waves."

"It's beyond a break-up record," Mayer told Rolling Stone of his new LP. "It's about my impression of loss. It's about the ghost in the room. Proudly, it is, as my therapist says, a study into the metaphysics of absent love."
