Rock Daily Searches YouTube For Robert Plant's Replacement

October 27, 2008 5:48 PM ET

This morning John Paul Jones confirmed long-standing rumors that Led Zeppelin have been rehearsing without Robert Plant and may hit the road with a new singer. "We've had the odd singer come in and have a bash," the bassist said. "We really hope that something is going to happen soon because we really want to do it and we're having a lot of fun. Robert [Plant] doesn't want to do this sort of thing, at least for the moment." Who could these "odd singers" be? Might Page and Jones follow in the footsteps of Journey, Yes and Boston and scour the Internet for a new singer? Follow the jump for YouTube clips of three top Zeppelin cover bands (plus Lez Zeppelin, above) as well as Journey's Arnel Pineda and Page's last two Robert Plant replacements all doing their best Robert Plant impressions. Who should get the call?

“Long Walk Home”

Bruce Springsteen | 2007

When the subject of this mournful song returns home, he hardly recognizes his town. Springsteen told Rolling Stone the alienation the man feels is a metaphor for life in a politically altered post-9/11 America. “Who would have ever thought we’d live in a country without habeas corpus?” he said. “That’s Orwellian. That’s what political hysteria is about and how effective it is. I felt it in myself. You get frightened for your family, for your home. And you realize how countries can move way off course, very far from democratic ideals.”
