Rihanna celebrated her 24th birthday over the weekend by debuting a pair of remixes in which she teamed up with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who was convicted for felony assault after beating her before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Here is the remix for Rihanna's track "Birthday Cake," which features a verse by Brown in which he sings "Girl, I want to fuck you right now / been a long time / I've been missing your body."

Rihanna also appears on the remix for Brown's current single, "Turn Up the Music."

The two songs were revealed to the singers' respective Twitter audiences within minutes of each other, suggesting that the two coordinated the release as a way of sending a message that they have reconciled.

“Everyday People”

Sly and the Family Stone | 1968

"Everyday People" managed to trailblaze in two different ways -- it was one of the first pop hits to deal with the subject of racial harmony, and it utilized Larry Graham's "slap" technique on the bass guitar, which would soon be copied by countless other bassists. Graham once said about his pulsating style, "I'd never done that before … that's where the freedom of creativity came in for the band, that we'd be allowed to do that." In 1978, the song's line "Different strokes for different folks" would be borrowed for the title of the hit television show Diff'rent Strokes.
