Prince has finally embraced the online revolution. The notoriously Internet-resistant pop icon made his Twitter debut yesterday, tweeting from the account of his group 3rd Eye Girl

"PRINCE'S 1ST TWEET... TESTING 1, 2..." read the first tweet which was soon followed by a photo of his dinner.

100 Greatest Guitarists: Prince

The singer, songwriter and guitarist famously declared war against the Internet, and his representatives have vigilantly scoured YouTube in search of performance clips and videos before having them removed – they served Twitter's Vine app with a copyright complaint this spring – but now he seems willing to poke fun at himself.

"CATCH THIS NOW B4 MY LAWYERS DEW," he wrote alongside a video post, according to Billboard. He seems not to have been joking about that part: the video, of a 3rd Eye Girl performance of "Let's Go Crazy," has since been made private.

Still available, though, is a snippet of a new horn-laced song called "Groovy Potential," to which Prince also tweeted a link.
