On Sept. 16, Pearl Jam will launch their long-awaited tour of North America and Europe. Sticking to its guns, the band won't be playing U.S. venues that have an exclusive arrangement with Ticketmaster (hence Randalls Island, in New York, will be one of the stops on the tour). Opening on all dates are fellow Seattle-ites the Fastbacks, with Ben Harper joining the two acts for the New York, Charlotte, N.C., and Miami performances. Tickets will be sold via an 800 number; stay tuned to your local radio station for information. Look for West Coast dates next spring.
Tentative dates include Seattle, Sept. 16; Toronto, Sept. 21; Toledo, Ohio, Sept. 22; Washington, D.C., Sept. 24; Augusta, Maine, Sept. 26; New York, Sept. 28-29; Buffalo, N.Y., Oct. 1; Hartford, Conn., Oct. 2; Charlotte, Oct. 4; Charleston, S.C., Oct 5: Miami, Oct. 7.
