A member of the Odd Future hip-hop collective slapped a female photographer during the group's performance at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans yesterday.
Early in the set, Odd Future leader Tyler the Creator went off on a rant about how the barricaded area for photographers at large-scale shows is unfair to fans. This led to Vyron "Left Brain" Turner attacking photographers in the pit by throwing water bottles, kicking gear and slapping freelance photographer Amy Harris in the face and knocking her camera to the ground.
"I have worked many shows before, and I’ve had to deal with a band flinging water at the photographers, but I never expected this to happen," Harris told NBC33 News. "In the pit, the male to female ratio is about 20 to 1. There were way more men in that pit than women."
Harris has declined to file an assault charge against the rapper, and says that her equipment was not damaged in the incident.
