My Morning Jacket announced a headlining summer tour. The 13-date trek kicks off June 22nd in Cincinnati, Ohio and concludes August 12th in North Adams, Massachusetts. Opening acts will include Gary Clark Jr., Margo Price, the Districts, the Record Company and Jaw Gems.
The acclaimed psych-rock band released their seventh album, The Waterfall, in 2015. In February, the quintet performed a trio of career-spanning shows at their One Big Holiday event in Mexico, featuring guest spots from Clark Jr., the Head and the Heart, Lucius and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Digital versions of individual concerts or the entire three-night run are available to purchase online.
My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James issued his second solo LP, Eternally Even, in November. In a wide-ranging interview with Rolling Stone, the musician discussed his shifting creative approach for the band's Waterfall follow-up. "There's something propulsive or rock & roll about them," he said of the new tracks. "That's how it feels now. But as I know from past records, I can't even say that's how it'll end up. You'll walk in with these rock & roll songs, and you'll walk out with a record of the saddest, dreamiest ballads."
