The Melvins and Napalm Death will tour North America with Melt Banana next spring on what they've dubbed their "Savage Imperial Death March" tour.

"We have been talking about doing a tour like this for a long time, so we are thrilled it's finally happening," Napalm Death's Shane Embury said in a statement. "Having been longtime fans and friends of the Melvins we are very happy to be embarking on this six-week tour of musical madness with them and Melt Banana. Expect the unexpected!"

"Napalm Death sound like a gorilla on LSD firing a machine gun… and I mean that in a good way," Melvins' Buzz Osborne said. "We're happy to be heading out with the ultimate grindcore pioneers."

The sludge rockers' lineup for the trek will feature Redd Kross bassist Steven McDonald playing with frontman Osborne and drummer Dale Crover. Prior to the tour, that trio will put out a 10-inch titled War Pussy, though a release date has yet to be announced.

The group also recently released a DVD of their ambitious 2012 North American tour, Across the USA in 51 Days: The Movie! On the tour, the band attempted to break the world record for fastest U.S. tour, including a date in Washington, D.C., though George Thorogood still holds the record. Nevertheless, the film dedicates one minute to each performance.

Napalm Death, on the other hand, do possess a Guinness World Record. Their 1.316-second long "You Suffer," off their 1987 debut album Scum, officially remains the shortest song ever.

Members of Melvins and Napalm Death previously collaborated on Retroactive Abortion, the 2004 debut album by grindcore supergroup Venomous Concept, which featured Osborne playing along the death-metal group's Embury and drummer Danny Herrera and Brutal Truth singer Kevin Sharp.
