Mandy Moore Looks at Potential Team-Ups With Ryan Adams, Fleet Foxes

April 17, 2009 3:57 PM ET

Mandy Moore, or Mrs. Adams as we refer to her now that she has married Ryan Adams, sat down with EW's Music Mix to talk about her new husband, new album Amanda Leigh and what artists — besides her hubby — she'd like to work with.

According to Moore, one of the perks about living with Adams is that she's learning a lot about the different genres of heavy metal. As for when she might collaborate with Adams on some music, Moore tells EW, "I'm sure in due time something will probably come about in terms of collaborating. We certainly have done that at home, writing together — it just organically happens." As Adams is currently taking a hiatus from music, Moore joked that she'd hire her hubby as a guitarist for her tour if necessary.

Mandy has a long way to go before she becomes the next Zooey Deschanel or Jenny Lewis or whatever other actresses have managed to capture the hearts of indie music fans, but she seems to be on the right path. Moore also name-dropped indie folk heroes the Fleet Foxes — she bought the Sun Giant EP because she liked the cover art — as another act she'd like to work with in the future, revealing she'd exchanged e-mails with frontman Robin Pecknold. "He was really inquisitive about, 'What kind of record is this? What do you want to write about?' Obviously he wouldn't have been listening to my music. I just thought it was so cool of him. He said, 'I'd love to, but we're busy.' I was such a nerdy fan, like, 'Oh my God, I can't believe he wrote me!' "

Moore's Amanda Leigh is out May 26th, the same day as Marilyn Manson's The High End of Low, making for one strange New Releases display.

“Oh Sherrie”

Steve Perry | 1984

Steve Perry's girlfriend Sherrie Swafford was actually in the studio when Perry began writing this song--his lone Top Ten hit as a solo act--with two co-writers. The trio began at midnight one night with just "Oh, Sherrie!" and "hold on, hold on." Three hours later, they had a complete song. Swafford, however, had to wait until the next day to hear it. "Sherrie actually got tired and went to bed," Perry said. She also appeared in the video, but their relationship did not hold on for long.
