Tropical Storm Andrea's driving rain and high winds couldn't keep Kings of Leon from the stage for long. Governors Ball announced today that Friday's rained-out headliners have been rescheduled to play this evening.
"Looks like I get 2 melt your faces after all. Spread the good word," KOL drummer Nathan Followill tweeted this morning as the make-up show was announced. "To say that I'm excited about tonight would be an understatement," he added later. "First time in a long time that I'll see the sunshine while I'm playing."
Kings of Leon were set to play their first gig since announcing their new album on Friday when heavy wind and rain finally forced concert promoters to shut the festival down for the night. The show was called after the speakers on the main stage blew toward the beginning of a set by Feist.
Kings of Leon will be hitting the Gov Ball NYC stage at 6:45 p.m. tonight, and yesterday's ticketholders will have another chance to see them. "Governors Ball felt it was their duty to reward the folks who braved the weather yesterday with an entire extra day of the fest, and the ability to see Kings of Leon perform their first show in NYC in 3 years," the festival's promoters announced. Single-day tickets for Friday's show will be honored for general admission access on Saturday. An updated schedule can be found at the festival's website, which also cautions today's concertgoers to be prepared for mud.
