The Kanye West media blitz leading up to the November 22nd release of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy continued yesterday with a surprise appearance on Ellen. West made his entrance with a tongue-in-cheek nod to "the Taylor Swift incident" by interrupting Ellen DeGeneres mid-segment, then sat down on the couch to talk about his upcoming "Runaway" mini-movie, his "internships" at fashion houses ("I got coffee for people," West quipped) and how he dropped out of the public eye following the Swift/VMA incident. Kanye West's Surprise Visit to Rolling Stone

"It was good just to be around other spaces because the creativity in other fields inspired what I did in music," West said of his hiatus. "When I finally decided to go back to music, I realized the power I had in that space, and the responsibility I had to keep on pushing the genre forward."

West also showed the row of diamonds he had implanted into his lower jaw. "I just thought that diamonds were cooler," Kanye said. "It's just something that rock stars are supposed to do." West also offered a sneak preview of the 35-minute "Runaway" video before it debuts this Saturday, October 23rd.

“Youth Knows No Pain”

Lykke Li | 2011

“Like on 'Youth Knows No Pain' — we are the ones that should demonstrate, because we can take it,” Likke Li said. “We can pierce ourselves, take Ecstasy, dance all night and still go to work at our McDonald's jobs.” Despite the hedonistic sentiment in the song, the Swedish singer also admitted in hindsight her youth had repercussions. “I remember when I was 18-19 and feeling that I know it all,” Li said. “I always feel that I know it all. But that song is about realizing you don’t, and reflecting, ‘Boy, if I only knew what would follow.’”
