Justin Bieber will appear before a Miami-Dade County Judge on March 3rd when he goes to trial on charges of drunk driving, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 19-year-old pop star's attorneys have already filed a written plea of not guilty on all three misdemeanor charges; Bieber will be officially arraigned on February 14th.

Justin Bieber's wild decline: a timeline of the pop superstar's high-profile troubles

The charges stem from an incident last month, when authorities pulled over Bieber and fellow musician Khalil Sharieff for drag racing early in the morning. Bieber reportedly swore at Miami police officers as they took him away after he failed a sobriety test on the scene; the singer also failed a brethalyzer test given to him at the police station and a toxicology report later revealed both marijuana and Alprazolam, the key ingredient in Xanax, in his system.

The young star's legal woes continued just days later when Bieber turned himself in to Toronto police after a limo driver accused a member of his entourage of assault. It's still unclear what Bieber's role in the incident was, though his attorney issued a statement proclaiming his innocence.

Bieber's recent string of troubles started in early January when he was accused of egging his neighbor's house. His friend, rapper Lil Za, was arrested for possession of drugs when police searched the pop star's Calabasas, California home as part of an investigation into the egging incident

“American Girl”

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers | 1976

It turns out that a single with "American" in its title--recorded on the Fourth of July during the nation's Bicentennial, no less--can actually sell better in Britain. Coupled with the Heartbreakers' flair for Byrds jangle and Animals hooks, though, is Tom Petty's native-Florida drawl that keeps this classic grounded at home. Petty dispelled rumors that the song was about a suicidal student, explaining that the inspiration came from when he was 25 and used to salute the highway traffic outside his apartment window. "It sounded like the ocean to me," he recalled. "That was my ocean. My Malibu. Where I heard the waves crash, but it was just the cars going by."
