Following Steven Tyler's recent departure from American Idol, host Ryan Seacrest has now confirmed Jennifer Lopez will also vacate her judge's post on the show. "Just confirmed with @JLo she's made up her mind . . . will leave idol. :( gonna miss her," Seacrest posted on Twitter. Lopez called into Seacrest's radio show to explain leaving Idol, saying, "Something had to give and that's I think where I am right now. . . I honestly feel that the time has come, that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I've put kind of on hold."

Earlier this week, Lopez hinted at her possible departure, saying, "It's been on my mind a lot, as you can imagine . . . I signed on to American Idol to do one year and I wound up doing the two years. And now it's like, 'OK, do we continue on this journey?" Lopez has a busy scheduling approaching: she voiced a character for the new film Ice Age: Continental Drift and kicks off a massive tour on July 14th in Montreal.

“Long Walk Home”

Bruce Springsteen | 2007

When the subject of this mournful song returns home, he hardly recognizes his town. Springsteen told Rolling Stone the alienation the man feels is a metaphor for life in a politically altered post-9/11 America. “Who would have ever thought we’d live in a country without habeas corpus?” he said. “That’s Orwellian. That’s what political hysteria is about and how effective it is. I felt it in myself. You get frightened for your family, for your home. And you realize how countries can move way off course, very far from democratic ideals.”
