Jagger and Hall Have Baby Boy

December 10, 1997 12:00 AM ET

Mick Jagger reached another milestone early Tuesday -- the 54-year-old rocker once again became a father.

Jerry Hall, Jagger's wife, gave birth to Gabriel Luke Beauregard Jagger at 12:30 a.m. in London on Dec. 9. The boy weighed in at eight pounds, three ounces.

Jagger, who is currently on tour in America with the Rolling Stones, isn't expected to see his new son until the band wraps up this leg of the "Bridges to Babylon" tour on Friday in St. Louis.

Gabriel is the sixth child for Jagger, his fourth with Hall. Jagger has two other daughters: one with ex-wife Bianca Jagger, the other with singer/actress Marsha Hunt

“Everyday People”

Sly and the Family Stone | 1968

"Everyday People" managed to trailblaze in two different ways -- it was one of the first pop hits to deal with the subject of racial harmony, and it utilized Larry Graham's "slap" technique on the bass guitar, which would soon be copied by countless other bassists. Graham once said about his pulsating style, "I'd never done that before … that's where the freedom of creativity came in for the band, that we'd be allowed to do that." In 1978, the song's line "Different strokes for different folks" would be borrowed for the title of the hit television show Diff'rent Strokes.
