Third Man Records announced this week that it will be launching its series of archival blues recordings with the release of three albums at the end of the month. The Jack White-founded label is partnering with Document Records to reissue the complete works of blues legends Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks.

"The recordings we'll be presenting in this reissue series are the building blocks and DNA of American culture," Third Man says on its website. "Blues, R&B, Elvis, teenagerism, punk rock . . . it all goes back to these vital, breathtaking recordings."
The first volume of the Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order for each of the three artists will be released on January 29th. Further volumes will follow, and new artists from Document Records' catalog will be added when the first series is complete. The albums will be available on vinyl (for the first time in decades), with new liner notes and artwork by Rob Jones.
