"This song was written as a tribute to the month of July. I wanted the song to feel like a typical summer day in Oakland, Calif. It has a few different sections and tempo changes that represent different locations and time passing throughout the day," Nate Brenner explains to Rolling Stone. "I wanted it to be a bit upbeat and quirky to evoke the feeling of the sunshine and the interesting characters one might meet around my neighborhood."
