With their forthcoming album, Ready to Die, out next month, Iggy Pop and the Stooges are returning to SXSW. The rockers will play the House of Vans showcase on March 13th at Mohawk along with Ghostface Killah, Japandroids, Sky Ferreira and more, marking their first appearance in the Texas capital since playing the Austin City Limits Festival last October.
100 Greatest Singers: Iggy Pop
Ready to Die is the first time Iggy Pop has worked with guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott Asheton on a full album since their 1973 classic Raw Power. It's set for an April 30th release. Iggy Pop's 1970s collaboration with David Bowie in West Berlin is the subject of the forthcoming biopic Lust for Life.
The Stooges last played SXSW in 2007, which coincided with the The Weirdness, the band's first album since Raw Power.
