Lady Gaga has unveiled her new single, "Perfect Illusion." The song hails from her as-yet untitled fifth studio album.
Gaga co-produced the tune alongside Mark Ronson, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker and Bloodpop (formerly known as Blood Diamonds).
The singer addresses the pitfalls of mistaking the rush of a crush for something deeper on the driving dance-rock number. "It wasn't love/ It wasn't love/ It was a perfect illusion," she sings. "Mistaken love/ It wasn't love/ It was a perfect illusion."
In May, Ronson told Charlie Rose in an interview that Gaga was taking a more "analog" approach on her new album. "She's never played guitar in public before…but guitar is something she's learning for this record," he teased, adding, "That side of her, I don't think a lot of the world has seen. It's really great to make this very honest, authentic, kind of analog record with her."
