Hear Bat for Lashes' Foreboding Ballad 'Joe's Dream'

Natasha Kahn captures calm, terror in latest offering from upcoming concept album 'The Bride'

Bat for Lashes has unveiled a haunting new ballad "Joe's Dream," the latest offering from the upcoming concept album, 'The Bride.'

Bat for Lashes released a tender new ballad "Joe's Dream," which treads the line between amorous and ominous.

"Joe's Dream" appears on Bat for Lashes' upcoming concept album, The Bride, which tells the story of a woman whose fiancé is killed in a car accident en route to their wedding. In "Joe's Dream," singer Natasha Khan, as the bride-to-be, recounts her fiancé's eerie premonition over a brooding guitar and steady kick drum.

The production incorporates haunting, reverb-soaked choral voices and percussion shuffles. Kahn's vocal captures calm in the face of fear: "There was lightning in his black leather," she sings. "And it struck out his name/ No more tears, baby, please don't cry/ I tried to tell him everything is fine."

"Joe's Bride" follows previously released cuts from The Bride, "Sunday Love," "I Do" and "In God's House." The album arrives July 1st and marks the first Bat for Lashes LP since 2012's The Haunted Man, but follows Kahn's 2015 collaboration with Toy, Sexwitch.
