The Australian dance-rockers Gold Fields released a self-titled EP earlier this year; now they are gearing up their debut LP, Black Sun, for release in January on Astralwerks. You can check out that record's first single, "Dark Again," a shuffling cut with a thick bassline and massive chorus.

Frontman Mark Fuller says the track started out in 2010 as a demo that the band toyed with constantly throughout the recording process. "The lyrics were written about pulling yourself out of a rut," Fuller tells Rolling Stone. "More specifically, pulling a relationship out of a rut. It's just about snapping out of a negative mindframe and realizing that you've got something pretty special."

“Youth Knows No Pain”

Lykke Li | 2011

“Like on 'Youth Knows No Pain' — we are the ones that should demonstrate, because we can take it,” Likke Li said. “We can pierce ourselves, take Ecstasy, dance all night and still go to work at our McDonald's jobs.” Despite the hedonistic sentiment in the song, the Swedish singer also admitted in hindsight her youth had repercussions. “I remember when I was 18-19 and feeling that I know it all,” Li said. “I always feel that I know it all. But that song is about realizing you don’t, and reflecting, ‘Boy, if I only knew what would follow.’”
