The Dropkick Murphys debut their new album today, and we have the exclusive video for the title track "Going Out In Style." Like The Ramones and AC/DC before them, the Dropkick Murphys found an incredible winning formula early on and have wisely not veered far from it. The Celtic punk song is told from the point of view of an old man with no regrets who's throwing a giant party towards the end of his life. "You can take my urn to Fenway and spread my ashes all around," they sing. "Or you can bring me down to Wally Beach and dump the sucker out. Burn me to a rotten crisp and toast me for a while. I could really give a shit - I'm going out in style."
Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey told Rolling Stone earlier this year that they have little interest in altering their sound. "We don't get overly concerned with rewriting the wheel," Casey says. "We're happy with a distinct style and sound. We just wanted to make a more well-rounded album that fills all the bills we've ever been. A lot of the songs are just straight-ahead old-fashioned 1970s punk rock types of things, but it might have a banjo on it."
