Exclusive 'Conan' Outtake: Jenny and Johnny's Bonus Song

Indie duo share an extra track from their late-night session with O'Brien

December 16, 2010 11:35 PM ET

Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice dropped in on Conan O'Brien Thursday night for a typically charming performance — but even if you were glued to the TV, you didn't see them play this track, "Scissor Runner," which RollingStone.com is proud to present now. (It was in our Top 50 Songs of 2010.) Thanks to Jenny, Jonathan and Conan for sharing!

“Madame George”

Van Morrison | 1968

One of the first stream-of-consciousness epics to make it onto a Van Morrison record, his drawn-out farewell to the eccentric "Madame George" lasted nearly 10 minutes, combining ingredients from folk, jazz and classical music. The character that gave the song its title provoked speculation that it was about a drag queen, though Morrison denied this in Rolling Stone. "If you see it as a male or a female or whatever, it's your trip," he remarked. "I see it as a ... a Swiss cheese sandwich. Something like that."
