Elvis Costello & the Imposters announced a North American summer tour.

Elvis Costello & the Imposters announced a North American summer tour launching June 3rd in Berkeley, California and concluding July 25th in Providence, Rhode Island. The 20-date run – a continuation of their fall 2016 trek, "Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers" – uses material from 1982's Imperial Bedroom as a jumping-off point.

In a statement, Costello clarified that the band isn't aiming for nostalgia with their recent shows. "We never intended to recite this book from cover to cover," he said. "Listen to our new arrangement of 'Tears Before Bedtime' – it gets straight to the real meaning of that song, the way we hear and feel it today. Back in 1982, I might have been a step or two ahead of our crowd in the tragic, romantic stakes, but I sense that they've all caught up with me now."

The current Imposters lineup features Costello's long-running backing band – drummer Pete Thomas, singer-bassist Davey Faragher and keyboardist Steve Nieve – along with guest vocalists Kitten Kuroi and YahZarah.

Imperial Bedroom, produced by famed Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick, features Costello classics like "Beyond Belief" and "Almost Blue." The album, which Rolling Stone dubbed a "masterpiece" upon its initial release, ranks at Number 166 on our 500 Greatest Albums list.
