Artist: Kingsley Flood
Song: "Down"
Album: Battles
"This is an angry song, but it was a blast to record. There's fuzz bass, distorted keyboards, and pounding drums – music to match the mood. A lot of our new album Battles explores the choice between doing the right thing and winning at any cost," Kingsley Flood's frontman Naseem Khuri tells Rolling Stone. "'Down' takes on opportunists who fake their way to the top. I live in Washington DC, and often write songs while just walking around. The line 'You lead to believe that's a tropical tan / But I caught you in the corner with a gold spray can' came after I spotted a politician who looked abnormally orange."
