Miley Cyrus Video to Become Movie
The video for Rock Mafia's song "The Big Bang," which features Miley Cyrus and Gossip Girl actor Kevin Zegers, is going to be expanded into a feature-length film. It's hard to tell from the video exactly what the plot could entail, but it seems to be something of a romantic comedy. [E! News]

Timbaland Writes Song for Demi Lovato
Timbaland has written a song for troubled teen star Demi Lovato. In a video clip posted to YouTube, the producer addresses Lovato, currently in rehab for undisclosed issues, telling her that he is very impressed by her talent before playing a bit of an unfinished track intended for the singer's comeback album. Justin Bieber Returns to 'CSI'
Justin Bieber is set to reprise his role as a young terrorist in a forthcoming sweeps-season episode of CSI. In his previous appearance on the program, his character was sent to prison. This episode is said to wrap up the character's storyline. [Vulture]

Bobby Robinson Dead at 93
Bobby Robinson, a Harlem music impressario and producer who was involved in the early success of artists such as Ike and Tina Turner, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Grandmaster Flash, has died at the age of 93. Robinson was a fixture of the Harlem scene for decades, and owned a long-running music shop in the neighborhood. [NY Times]

Basshunter Accused of Sexual Assault
Basshunter, a Swedish dance-artist-turned-reality-TV-star in Britain, has been accused of sexually assaulting two fans at a gig in Fife, Scotland. Basshunter, born Jonas Erik Altberg, was released on bail and denies the charge. [BBC News]

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers | 1976

It turns out that a single with "American" in its title--recorded on the Fourth of July during the nation's Bicentennial, no less--can actually sell better in Britain. Coupled with the Heartbreakers' flair for Byrds jangle and Animals hooks, though, is Tom Petty's native-Florida drawl that keeps this classic grounded at home. Petty dispelled rumors that the song was about a suicidal student, explaining that the inspiration came from when he was 25 and used to salute the highway traffic outside his apartment window. "It sounded like the ocean to me," he recalled. "That was my ocean. My Malibu. Where I heard the waves crash, but it was just the cars going by."
