Guitarist Wes Borland has left Limp Bizkit after three albums and seven years with the group. No reason was given for the departure, though Borland dabbled in a side project, Big Dumb Face, earlier this year, and, according to that group's Web site, he has already started a new group.
The Bizkit camp seemed unfazed by the departure. "The first thing that's gonna happen is we're going to comb the globe in search of the illest guitar player known to man," wrote frontman Fred Durst on the band's Web site. "Then we're gonna take this illest guitar player known to man and we're gonna finish writing the sickest new, undeniable Limp Bizkit record you could ever imagine. Wes was a big part of the Limp Bizkit you're used to, but his decision to leave has left us in a place where we know the best of Limp Bizkit is yet to come. Lethal, John, Sam and I are gonna take this as an opportunity to take our songwriting to a whole new level. As the world turns, so does Limp Bizkit."
According to Big Dumb Face's site, Borland and three members of that group (Greg Isabel, Scott Borland and Kyle Weeks) have started a new group, which initially took the handle "Gutta-Percha," but has since abandoned it. The foursome apparently will take on a more serious sound than the light BDF, while still working on BDF projects on the side. No plans for a recording have been set yet.
