Get ready, Smashing Pumpkins fans: Yesterday was the "first official day of writing" for the band's new album, leader Billy Corgan said on Twitter. "Wish us luck!" the singer tweeted.
Corgan didn't elaborate on what he has planned for what would be the band's 10th studio LP, and the follow-up to last year's Oceania, which Rolling Stone described as "a bong-prog take on the alt-rock grandeur of Gish and Siamese Dream."

Smashing Pumpkins have also kept busy lately with a reissue of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, a gig earlier this month at SXSW in Austin and plans for a tour of North America and Europe beginning in late April and running through much of July.
Corgan, who opened a tea shop near Chicago last year, also recently taped a TV commercial pairing his pro-wrestling company with a Chicago-area custom furniture maker.
