As I Lay Dying frontman Timothy Lambesis will stand trial in a murder-for-hire case in which he is charged with attempting to hire an undercover cop to kill his wife, Reuters reports. A California judge made the decision in a hearing yesterday.
The singer was arrested in May on charges of soliciting the murder of his wife, Meggan Lambesis. Meggan filed for divorce last year after receiving an email from her husband saying the he no longer loved her. She later learned that he was also having an affair.
Lambesis allegedly paid an undercover officer $1,000 in cash to kill his wife. The rocker provided photos, her address and security codes to gain access to her home, as well as dates that he would be with their adopted children in order to secure an alibi.
Lambesis has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces up to nine years in prison.
