Arcade Fire, Rihanna, Mumford & Sons and Cee Lo Green were among the big winners at the Brit Awards – Britain's equivalent to the Grammys – last night in London.

Arcade Fire won in both the International Group and International Album categories. When accepting an award, frontman Win Butler poked fun at the confusion that came about when his not-quite-mainstream band won the Grammy for Album of the Year, resulting in thousands of angry tweets asking "Who is Arcade Fire?" "We're called Arcade Fire – check it out on Google," he joked.

Rihanna and Cee Lo Green also won in the international categories for Female and Male Solo Artist, respectively. Justin Bieber was the winner in the International Breakthrough Act category.

As for the British artists the event is designed to honor, Mumford & Sons won for British Album of the Year, while rapper Tinie Tempah took home the prize for both British Breakthrough Act and British Single. Folk singer Laura Marling won British Female Solo Artist, rapper-singer Plan B won for British Male Solo Artist and Take That won Best British Group.

As can be expected from any major awards show, the Brit Awards featured some fine performances. Here are some highlights from last night's ceremony.
