Adele's indefinite hiatus from music might be lasting a little longer: The singer just announced that she is pregnant with her first child on her official website.

"I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together," she wrote. "I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx."

The father of the child is Adele's boyfriend Simon Konecki, co-founder of the U.K. bottled water company Life Water. Konecki, 36, divorced his first wife four years ago.

Adele's 2011 album 21 has sold 9.3 million copies to date. She has been on a break since October of 2011 as she continues to recover from surgery due to a vocal cord hemorrhage

“Youth Knows No Pain”

Lykke Li | 2011

“Like on 'Youth Knows No Pain' — we are the ones that should demonstrate, because we can take it,” Likke Li said. “We can pierce ourselves, take Ecstasy, dance all night and still go to work at our McDonald's jobs.” Despite the hedonistic sentiment in the song, the Swedish singer also admitted in hindsight her youth had repercussions. “I remember when I was 18-19 and feeling that I know it all,” Li said. “I always feel that I know it all. But that song is about realizing you don’t, and reflecting, ‘Boy, if I only knew what would follow.’”
