Video: We Are Augustines on Writing From the Road
April 21, 2012 10:45 AM ET
"To be honest, it's hard to write when you're on tour," admitted We Are Augustines bassist Eric Sanderson backstage at Rolling Stone's Coachella Rock Room party. "This particular tour that we've been on has been six weeks long and very constant, constant stimulation. You really have to search for times of reflection; you have to work for it to find those moments, so writing has been more in the mind than on the instrument as this point." Video: Amon Tobin Turns Up the Bass
April 21, 2012 10:15 AM ET
"Visually, it's based on projection mapping. It's a way of mapping onto flat surfaces and animating them and giving sort of an illusion of motion," explained Brazilian electronic composer-producer Amon Tobin of the spectacular show for his album ISAM, which he performed at Coachella. "It's a sort of mixture, the way we've got it set up between cinematic experience and a live show. It kind of really sets it apart from a lot of things going out there, I think, in terms of it... | More »

Manchester Orchestra singer Andy Hull may have grown up in Atlanta, but his heart was always across the pond. "I started the band when I was 16 and that summer, I was listening to a lot of Morrissey and the Smiths. So Manchester was just a city that seemed to be cool," he recalled at Rolling Stone's Rock Room party at Coachella. Despite the dreary weather, the town has lived up to all his expectations. March 18, 2012 12:25 PM ET
Florida punks Hot Water Music say they are being careful about how many songs from their new album, Exister, make their way into their sets on their current tour. "It always makes the shows a little more fun when people know the songs," says frontman Chuck Ragan. "All we want to play is new songs, but what happens is when you play new songs that you're the most excited about, there's always a lull in the set and the energy drops."
