Arcade Fire's streak of wacky concert bobblehead guest appearances remains intact. Toward the end of their headlining Coachella set Sunday night, the band brought out alt-rock legend Beck (wearing an Easter-appropriate Pope Francis bobblehead) for a cover of Prince's 1981 funk classic "Controversy," as Billboard reports. The New Immortals: Arcade Fire This wasn't the band's first time tackling the Purple One, having already covered "Controversy" last month in Minneapolis...  | More »

  • Video: Billie Joe Armstrong Joins the Replacements at Coachella

    April 19, 2014 11:09 AM ET

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong provided musical reinforcement for the Replacements during the band's second Coachella weekend set on Friday night. As Billboard reports, frontman Paul Westerberg was plagued by back trouble and spent much of the set laying on a sofa while he played his guitar parts, so the upright Armstrong came in handy. The 50 Best Things We Saw at Coachella 2014 The Replacements brought Armstrong out on stage early in the set and Westerberg referred to the rock...  | More »

  • Video: Debbie Harry Joins Arcade Fire for 'Heart of Glass' at Coachella

    April 14, 2014 11:20 AM ET

Arcade Fire closed out Coachella 2014 with a little help from a New Wave icon, as Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry jumped onstage to sing her band's 1978 smash "Heart of Glass," tackling the vocals in messy unison with Régine Chassagne.  Blondie: A Day in the Life at SXSW Their collaboration isn't seamless, littered with melodic miscues and lyrical jumbles, but the good-natured performance brings a smile to the entire band. The "Heart of Glass" highlight comes...  | More »

Coachella has always highlighted a tradition of artists playing with special surprise guests. In 2010, Jay Z caused a disturbance in the force  when he brought out Beyoncé for his headlining set; Phoenix, meanwhile, set the Twittersphere afire when – after rumors persisted that Daft Punk would appear onstage with the band at last year's Coachella – they brought out R. Kelly (!) instead. But on day two of Coachella 2014, Pharrell's headlining set on the Outdoo...  | More »
