Coldplay and Nine Inch Nails will headline the sixth edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, on April 30th and May 1st. As in past years, the roster includes a mix of up-and-coming bands (Arcade Fire, the Futureheads, Tegan and Sara), established acts (Weezer, Wilco, Bright Eyes) and alt-rock godfathers (Bauhaus, New Order, Gang of Four). Tickets are priced at $80 for one day or $150 for both. "Each year seems to have a pretty ama...  | More »

Wilco have canceled eight tour dates to allow frontman Jeff Tweedy to continue receiving treatment for an addiction to painkillers. Tweedy entered a Chicago rehab facility two weeks ago. The canceled dates span from an April 21st show at the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri, through the May 1st Coachella festival in California. Full refunds are available for all dates except Coachella. Wilco's next scheduled performance is a May 28th gig in Barcelona, Spain, which will be followed with ...  | More »

South by Southwest is just a fancy term for spring break for the music industry. Held annually in Austin, Texas, it's also a chance to see as many bands as possible in intimate settings before they hit big settings. Norah Jones played Starbucks during SXSW 2002, and we're guessing she won't be back there in 2004. Here's the best of what we saw: Best Stage Banter: Ottawa native Kathleen Edwards has a pretty voice and a dirty mouth. During her Antone's show, she annou...  | More »

The Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline this year's Coachella Festival, which will be held April 26th and 27th at the picturesque Empire Polo Field in Indio, California. For the Beasties, it will be their first West Coast appearance in four and a half years. The festival, now in its fourth year, will have a decidedly fresh feel this year, as the lineup is loaded with Coachella virgins, including the White Stripes, Cat Power, the Donnas, Black Eyed Peas, Johnny Marr,...  | More »
