Exclusive: How Lady Gaga Launched Designer Sally LaPointe's Career
September 9, 4:10 PM ET| Colleen NikaNew York designer Sally LaPointe has quickly earned a reputation for sending out brain-teasting invitations every Fashion Week (a year ago, she sent out hologrammatic mirrors; this season it was minimalist cubes sporting light spectrum trickery). The thought and detail that goes into those totems reflect her overall obsession with "futurism" and science fiction.

Beth Ditto Performs Madonna, Dolly Parton Covers at Fashion's Night Out
September 9, 2:20 PM ET| Colleen NikaThe Gossip's music has always been as indebted to dance as it is to the blues, so when frontwoman Beth Ditto struck out on her own for an EP of dynamite Nineties-tinged house jams, it wasn't as much an uprooting of styles as it was a savvy deviation from audience expectations. "First of all, house music, especially from the Nineties, is the gayest music ever," she told Rolling Stone last night. "It's all drum and bass, which is perfect for parties."

September 8, 4:15 PM ET| Colleen NikaCults' debut album, Cults, was a bittersweet update of the mascara-stained Fifties-prom-melodrama that bands like the Jesus and Mary Chain and Strawberry Switchblade perverted so well in the Eighties. Brazilian Electro-Rockers CSS Return With New Sound and Style
September 2, 12:15 PM ET| Colleen NikaBrazilian band CSS brought their wisecracking brand of party rock to an international stage in 2006, just when rock bands were commanding audiences to dance. Aside from a band name inspired by Beyoncé and big tunes chock full of novelty topical value — "Meeting Paris Hilton," "Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above" – frontwoman Lovefoxxx's arsenal of wacky clothes and onstage humor ensured they stood out from the rest of the neon-hued nu-ravers. After CSS's second album floundered commercially, the band took some time out to regroup, and are back this summer with La Liberación, an 11-track collection of brash electro-rock.

August 31, 5:10 PM ET| Colleen NikaCassette culture is revived and well: all it needed was a supermodel, controversial author and ironically, an iPhone app to breathe new life into it. A new ad from Booktrack features Petra Nemcova and James Frey in an uncomfortably provocative master and servant scenario while paying sly homage to Maxell's classic "Higher Fidelity" commercial, which blew people away in 1983.
