Infusing elements of rock 'n' roll into his work, Men's Designer Jason Ferro cuts edgy forms influenced by a youth steeped in punk rock and the skateboarding scene. Growing up by the beach in Southern California's Orange County, Ferro fuels his designs with a fashion-forward take on the relaxed West Coast style. As a teenager, Ferro and his friends would experiment with methods for breaking in their jeans, riding over pairs with a skateboard. Today, Ferro continues to observe skateboarders and reference street art and culture. "I watch how bike messengers manipulate their jeans. The loose drop crotch with a skinny leg that won’t get stuck in bike chains", he describes.

Underlying Ferro’s designs are the stories interwoven in the fabric itself. Ferro reflects on his own denim history, "The first pair of jeans I ever owned were purple. I'm always looking for something unique.

Crafting an innovative garment goes beyond stylesheet speculation. Collaborating with the 1969 team, Ferro explores fabrics, washes, and details that also reflect real-world wear and tear.  From studying the dirt-crusted jeans of cowboys to exploring the rust effects of denim splayed out on railroad tracks, Ferro looks for authentic points of inspiration to keep his creativity grounded.
Ferro describes 1969's home in LA as "the denim manufacturing heartbeat of America".

Ferro explains, "We are surrounded by the premium brands and showrooms. The laundries, the sewing facilities – we have access to everything. It keeps us connected."
