You are not hallucinating; that is in fact Vanilla Ice with a pair of kids that look and sound like a hopped-up Proclaimers. Jedward, or Irish twin brothers John and Edward Grimes, are the latest WTF? musical sensation to come out of the U.K., that crazy little island that also made hits out of Crazy Frog's "Axel F" and Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" 15 years after its original release.
Jedward first made a joint name for themselves as contestants on the sixth season of Simon Cowell's The X Factor, and even though the twins were eliminated, they've gained somewhat of a cult following on the U.K. charts thanks to their mash-up of Queen and David Bowie's "Under Pressure" with Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby," a song that originally sampled "Under Pressure." Adding a level of "credibility" to the mash-up is the appearance of Mr. Rob Van Winkle himself.
If Jedward are an example of what we have to look forward to when Cowell's American X Factor debuts on Fox next year, then we say the fall of 2011 couldn't come soon enough. Somehow even more mind-blowing than the video up top, however, is Jedward's X Factor audition, with the bros — who look like the demon spawn of Pink and the dude from Tokio Hotel — doing a full-blown version of the Ghostbusters theme:
