"American Idol" Taps Tatiana, Anoop for Wild Card as Rounds, MacIntyre, Nunez Advance

American Idol advanced three more contestants to the Top 12 last night, and gave eight additional folks renewed hope as the judges named the eight singers who will perform in tonight's wild card competition.

But first, there was a truly laughable group performance of Katy Perry's "Hot and Cold" with choreography consisting entirely of walking and leaning (very slick, Idol). Next, R&B star-in-the-making Lil Rounds was quickly announced as a finalist, followed by classic-rock crooner Scott MacIntyre and lovable Puerto Rican contestant Jorge Nunez. The results left Group Night teammates Nathaniel Marshall and Kristen McNamara out in cold and made one thing very clear: men are dominating season eight so far — all three third-place spots were claimed by male singers, meaning only one-third of the nine confirmed Top 12 finalists are women.

But the numbers may even out a little after the Wild Card round adds three more singers to the game: Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkrey, Tatiana Del Toro, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth and Anoop Desai will sing for their final shot tomorrow night during a very crucial round of competition — as Simon Cowell pointed out, neither Jennifer Hudson nor Clay Aiken would have made the show without it. True to form, Del Toro had the most dramatic reaction, breaking into tears and breathing, "I want to sing for you more than anyone's wanted to do anything in the whole world" in her hyperbolic gasp. As per usual, Ricky Braddy didn't get a chance to say a word — what is up with this guy's lack of screen time!?

As a reminder, the rest of the Top 12 looks like this: Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver, Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen. So who got screwed out of a second chance? Who's most likely to advance to the Top 12? Hit us up in the comments with your Idol expertise.
