Fricke's Picks: High-Speed Elegy


Song title of the fortnight: "All My Favorite Ramones Are Dead," punk veteran Jeff Dahl's minute-and-a-half monument, with an aptly chanted chorus and chain-saw guitar, on Back to Monkey City (Steel Cage). Dahl was in L.A. terrors Vox Pop, the Angry Samoans and Powertrip, so he's got this spiked-fuzz zoom down and the yell-along choruses to go with it, as in "Three Star Drag" — which is a five-star bang.
