Black Eyed Peas
The Black Eyed Peas appeared in the mid-Nineties as backpack rappers, hanging with indie hip-hop heroes like Jurassic 5 and De La Soul while slyly deriding mainstream rap as garbage. “Yeah you platinum, but you wack as hell,” snarled will.i.am on “Get Original.” Everything changed in 2003, when the band hired singer Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson and made a conscious move toward commercial success. Over the next six years, they would achieve it in spades, with three platinum albums and 11 Top Twenty Five singles.

Violator
January 01, 1990
star ratingViolator was an even bigger hit, featuring the rock-guitar shuffle "Personal Jesus." It was crazy to leave "Sea of Sin" and "Happiest Girl" off the album (both are stuck on the essential World in My Eyes 12-inch).
