South Park took aim at Kanye West once again last night in a season finale that revolved around the rapper's attempts to defend Kim Kardashian against rumors that she's a hobbit.
The story gets rolling when South Park Elementary student Wendy tries to convince a classmate that his love for Kardashian is misplaced because the reality star's appearance has been enhanced to hide her short and hairy hobbit-like characteristics. South Park's version of Kanye West, who dove off into the ocean at the end of Season 13's "Fishsticks" episode, returns from the sea to counter the speculation.
Along with a string of cruel jokes about the reality star's appearance, the episode includes a spoof of West's "Bound 2" video and a play on his notorious awards-show interruption – in this case, he interrupts Pope Francis' "Person of the Year" acceptance speech to clarify a misunderstanding about Peter Jackson's new Hobbit movie. "Kim is not even in that movie," West says. "That movie is just loosely based on her television show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which is a show about short loud little people living in a fantasy world." The episode also features the rapper casually referring to himself as "God."
South Park first skewered Kanye West in 2009, portraying him as a raging egomaniac with no sense of humor. The day after the episode aired, West took to his blog to examine his wounded pride. "South Park murdered me last night and it's pretty funny," he wrote. "It hurts my feelings but what can you expect from South Park!" He went on to say that he's been working on his ego, because "having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career."
