This week, Peter Travers breaks down one of the year's most anticipated films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings prequel has plenty going for it, including another amazing Gollum performance from Andy Serkis, but Travers notes that the nearly three-hour film could've been shorter and suggests viewers avoid screenings where the film's projected at the distracting, hyper-real 48-frames per second and stick to good old 24-frame. Still, Travers applauds Jackson for pulling it off again, noting fans will definitely be excited for the next two films in the trilogy but adds, "I just wish the wizard Gandalf could appear with Bilbo Baggins and make all this 48-frames-per-second go away!"
