Simon Cowell got an unwelcome surprise during last weekend's season finale of Britain's Got Talent when he was pelted with eggs on live TV. As brotherly opera duo Richard and Adam Johnson belted out "The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha, a young woman emerged from backstage with a carton of eggs and began throwing them at Cowell before security removed her.
According to Reuters, the woman has been identified as 30-year-old Natalie Holt, a member of the Johnsons' backing group. Holt and her string ensemble Raven Quartet competed in Britain's Got Talent last year without notable success. "I basically took a stand against people miming on television and against Simon and his dreadful influence on the music industry," Holt told The Telegraph. Show organizers have confirmed Holt won't face any charges.
Though they pushed through the incident without a hitch, the Johnsons finished third in the competition. Teenage British comedian Jack Carroll came in second, and Hungarian shadow theater group Attraction took home top honors for the show's seventh season.
