In the trailer for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, the scary series' first spin-off film, the plot begin at a normal party in Oxnard, California in June 2012. Then, after a woman dies in the apartment below the party, some revelers take their camera (of course) and investigate. They find the sorts of things that accompany black-magic rituals and pictures of one of the partygoers; one partier finds what looks like a bite on his arm when he wakes up and then discovers he has inexplicable powers. Then the horror begins.
The movie, which was directed by frequent Paranormal Activity series screenwriter Christopher Landon, arrives in theaters in January. The cast features mostly Latino actors and it stars Andrew Jacobs in his feature-film debut.
