Rolling Stone Executive Editor Eric Bates recently sat down with Jon Stewart in the conference room at the Daily Show offices to chat about how he and his staff go about turning the relentless 24-hour news cycle into a half-hour of comedy every day. "The best shows are made of the smallest moments," says Stewart. "Donald Trump eating pizza with a fork, and making that into eight minutes of a completely overblown sanctimonious rant on the apostasy of eating pizza with a fork."
