Jewel, we hardly recognize you! The four-time Grammy-nominated singer portrays acclaimed country singer and Johnny Cash's wife June Carter in the Lifetime biopic Ring of Fire, which premieres on May 27th.
The country star has dabbled in acting before, appearing in the 1999 Ang Lee film Ride with the Devil and in the 1995 film The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True. Ironically, Jewel even made a cameo in Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story – a parody of the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.
In this exclusive first look at Jewel in the film, we see the young, charismatic June singing the American standard "Wildwood Flower." The clip reveals June to be a real character – feisty and flirty with great comedic timing. Jewel performs the tune with an adorable country twang and goes deeper; beyond her charm and sass, we see June's unexpected vulnerability.
