'Dallas Buyers Club' Trailer Shows Gaunt Matthew McConaughey
Film also features Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner

Matthew McConaughey shows a remarkable physical transformation in the trailer for his upcoming movie Dallas Buyers Club. The normally muscular, and often shirtless, McConaughey plays Ron Woodroof, a Texas man who died from an AIDS-related illness in 1992.

The trailer opens with Woodroof enjoying a rough-and-tumble life fueled by women, drinking and bull riding. The fun comes to a halt once he's diagnosed with HIV and told he has one month to live; he's also denied a new antiretroviral treatment by his doctor played by Jennifer Garner. Woodroof decides to take a trip to Mexico to obtain black-market drugs, which he later smuggles into the U.S. and begins selling to other patients.

In addition to a gaunt McConaughey and Garner, the film also stars a barely recognizable Jared Leto. The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman plays a transsexual woman named Rayon who helps Woodroof set up a "buyers club" for HIV-positive patients to purchase treatment. The unlikely duo battle the illness together while also attempting to save lives.

Dallas Buyers Club opens on November 1st.
