Too much virtue can burden a film. But The Guys, based on the play Anne Nelson wrote in response to 9/11, earns its sentiment. Sigourney Weaver is funny and touching as a New York journalist who helps a fire captain (a superb Anthony LaPaglia) write eulogies for is lost men. The film is just two people talking, but director Jim Simpson finds its grieving heart.
