The Show Mustn’t Go On

In 2008, the Golden Globes ceremony was canceled because of a writers' strike when actors vowed to boycott the event in a show of solidarity. In place of the usually rowdy dinner- and drink-fest, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association held a snoozy 30-minute press conference announcing the winners. Talk about a buzzkill.
