Will Ferrell announced that he will star in a second Anchorman movie on last night's episode of Conan. The comedian, who appeared in full costume as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy, verbally sparred with host Conan O'Brien before telling the audience "As of 0900 hours Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman. It is official, there will be a sequel to Anchorman."
No further details have been announced, though it seems safe to presume that Ferrell's costars Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell will also sign on for the movie. Adam McKay, the co-writer and director of the original film, is also likely to be on board.
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, now a widely quoted cult classic, was a modest hit when it hit theaters in 2004, but it was crucial in establishing Ferrell as a movie star after his departure from Saturday Night Live.
